Losing a 6-7 350 Tackle hurts, when we had him wrapped up...

Very strange eh...We lead for over a year - he goes on a last second trip and picks GA.
Give me a Filiaga to go please...whom i think is better anyways.

Plus there's talk of his high school coach going to Georgia too. Tough loss but that's recruiting...can't get everyone.

1. Wish him well.
2. Recruiting. What can you say
3. Adapt or die. Plan B
4. Huge loss.

5. Georgia was smart. Just like UM. Give coaches jobs. It is the new way to pay for players.

What is good for the goose is good for the gander?

We didn't really have him wrapped up, other than the obvious (he committed elsewhere), he was a flavor of the month kind of guy. After he visited Bama, we weren't even in his top 2. At one point he told both Bama and Michigan he was coming, and then went to Georgia. He's 18, it happens. Sucks he committed elsewhere, but that's recruiting.

18 year old kid making a decision that he feels is the right thing for him. Plus we did this with a couple kids last year - hired their coach to reel them in...Georgia did the same thing with him :) On to the next O-line person.

Plus UGA is a great school, beautiful setting, etc.

My daughter graduated from Georgia. Lots of nice people but she found that sports is an absolute factory. Several of her friends lucked out by staying in the athletic dorm (required to be open to all students). Sadly, a UGA undergraduate degree isn't highly acclaimed. She immediately got her MA at a SoCal university. Anyway, I'll assume the lost player isn't a 4.0 student. is that accurate?

Biz school is top 20

I would trade anyone in this class for Wilson. Yes. The OL is the biggest need on paper but here is the good news. I see Hudson moving over to the OL. Steuber is very good and add 2-3 more pieces along with Onwenu and UM will be solid.

UM really needs some road graders and Ruiz and Fillaga are going to be important to land. Wilson hurts but UM just needs to counter the loss.

I've heard repeatedly how great an OL coach Drevno is. While we are improved over the disaster of the Clappy/Funk debacle, we need to take the next step.
We still can't run it against quality defenses. That needs to get fixed.

I can't say this is necessarily about coaching because I think Kalis is flawed along with Braden.

The question is whether this staff has evaluated the new guys. Steuber looks good. I think you will see improvement because the last batch back in the day was way overrated.

Wouldn't argue about Kalis-5 * who played like a 2 *.
My point is that it's time for Drevno to get the line playing at a high level . He's O for 2 so far.

Najee Harris???

you win some, you lose some. At the end of the day, it's all about performing in the game itself. We'll be OK. In fact a lot better than OK.

A lot of rationalizing on a lot of message boards. And while of course one player does not make a class or a team, OL is the heart of a team. Lesser running backs have had great games and good careers because of great lines and great running backs are neutralized by struggling lines.

We need everyone we can get. More importantly I agree with you that the line play is not improving nearly fast enough, especially given the experience we have.
