I did a quick perusal of Bama’s 2016 recruiting class ( which are true juniors or redshirt sophomores, and normally a strong nucleus of a college roster ). At this point in time ( before they potentially lose any more members of this class in the post-season, which is quite likely ), they have had three 5-star ( 6.1 ) players transfer, and 3 high 4-star ( 5.8-6.0 ) players leave as well.
Now they obviously have a wealth of 4 & 5 star players throughout their roster, and losing these players hasn’t hurt one bit, but interestingly, they also have a number of lower 3 & 4 players in that class that are still there and “working” their way up the depth chart.
I suspect that the expectation/entitlement level for many high profile recruits is significantly higher in today’s world of recruiting, and “instant gratification” does not always occur. It appears we are experiencing some of that in spades right now, but so are others if you take a look.
