And I feel their odds of getting to the F4 will be as good as any other team in the region.
Michigan looks like a team that is a step below the elite group of two noted above. Great win tonight. In a way this game reminded me of that Michigan/UCLA game at Pauley in 2016 where the road team (who looked like a bubble out squad at the time) needed to shoot their ass off from three to keep it close. UCLA (who looked elite) just put their foot down in the second half and ran away with their elite offense being unstoppable that night.
2021 Michigan isn't built like that UCLA team, but it's still a very good offensive team with a very good defensive unit as well. Tonight bubble out Maryland was like that Michigan team from 2016 in needing to shoot like crazy to keep it tight, but once normalcy returned Michigan ran away like a top 10 team does to a bubble out squad.
Give me a four seed in the same region as one seed Kansas right now and I walk away much more happy than a two seed with Zags/Baylor looming in the E8. With that said, it isn't out of the question that Michigan ends up the top seed in a region itself.
Nice work Jeff Goodman on that preseason #45 ranking....
