With Caris and Derrick in the lineup Michigan lost to NJIT and EMU. If it was one game I can rationalize it as a bad day but that stretch of games really shook my confidence in the core of the roster in many ways. Not the least of which was leadership....
Derrick, especially, seemed to be struggling with turnovers, seeing passing lanes, and creating shots. Not sure if he was injured at that point but he hadn't developed into the true floor general just yet.
Anyway, I hear what you are saying about a promising outlook for next year and Aubrey, Rak, and Ricky sure developed throughout the season. Their skills will only get better with Coach B. But, I still go back to - who is the leader on this team? Is it Caris? Is it Zak? Derrick? Who is the alpha dog? Who is the warrior?
In the past, those guys were Trey, THJ, Mitch, and Nik. They battled. They clawed. They willed Michigan to victories. Who's the next guy up to take that role? When that becomes clear, I think it will be much more inevitable that we will dance again soon.
