Congratulations to your son!It sucks and unfortunately injuries are part of the game. He has a 4 million injury insurance policy which will pay him if he is deemed unable to ever play again. If he chooses to play then it drops to 2 million if he is chosen after the second round he will receive 2 million. The injury will cost him millions in the long run whatever happens BUT he could recover quickly and actually go on to make his money. My son ripped his ACL the first game his Soph year in HS. He played his Junior year at half speed and fully recovered by his senior year to have a great year. He is going to Appalachian State next year to play bu his choice of course. Jake's injury will now become the rally cry for those players in the future who do not want to play in a non playoff bowl game.

The poor student deal was lost on me after Chris Webber's bitching about how he was being taken advantage of. A UM football scholarship is worth way more than what is shown on paper, it's a lifelong entree into opportunity and a vast alumni network. They do receive a scholarship worth $100,000 or more, room and board and stipend for four years...
Only a small percent of college players play after college...and, yes, they are concentrated in the front half of the bell curve (top 60 programs or so).
I'd give a nut or a knee for the honor and privilege he's had (though I have a self-funded degree)I would be very proud to have UM on my diploma and have it paid in full. Prayers and best wishes for your excellent tight end. I believe he will make a very good pro once the knee is healed.
maybe you and everyone else that thinks that way should learn from jake that theres a whole lotmore important things than moneyand that's why I won't get upset if guys leaving for the NFL sit out of non playoff games..

jake didnt just choose to honor his commitment to his team by playing in this bowl game he would have been the first te taken in LAST years draft if he had chosen that route
he chose to graduate and help his team and ill bet he still doesnt regret it
