Rivals.com's No. 18 player nationally in the 2019 class out of Garland, Texas (a 6-4, 185-pound shooting guard) visited Michigan State yesterday and Michigan today. He was a standout at adidas Summer Championships, Rivals analyst Eric Bossi reported, and holds offers from UCLA, Cal, MSU, Oklahoma and several others. From Bossi:
"Class of 2019 five-star guard Tyrese Maxey ended the summer the exact same way he started it, handing out ice cold buckets.
"I'm not sure there's a better pull-up jump shooter in high school basketball and his blend of power and skill continues to impress me. He went out with a bang for RM5 against Nike EYBL foe California Supreme and I'll be looking forward to checking in on him during the high school season."
Yet he did not earn a Michigan offer.
"It was good," he said of the visit before adding he didn't pick up the offer. "He [head coach John Beilein] wanted to make sure Michigan was a serious contender [before offering]."
This isn't unprecedented, of course. Visits are huge for Beilein, and offers aren't thrown out to every prospect.
We'll have more on Maxey and other prospects in the days to come.
