As many of you know, Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo is mulling over a decision to BYU. According to numerous reports, Brigham Young will turn its focus to Oregon State defensive coordinator Kalani Sitake if Niumatalolo officially says no, and according to FootballScoop.com, Sitake is expected to accept the head-coaching gig.
So where does this leave Michigan's search for a defensive coordinator? Jim Harbaugh has remained a very patient man when it comes to current Stanford coordinator Lance Anderson, but even Harbaugh has his limits and time is running out for Anderson to make his choice.
If the BYU decision goes down today, Anderson has a very, very short window to say yes to Harbaugh or U-M will move forward on to its next tier of candidates, which include Chuck Pagano, Jim Leavitt, Butch Davis and Dave Aranda.
The inclusion of Pagano may seem unrealistic but it appears his time as the head coach for the Indianapolis Colts is running short and while he could throw his hat in the ring for another head-coaching job, some close to Pagano believe he is looking for a little less stress in his life than what comes from being a boss in the NFL, and could find rejuvenation in a 2-3-year college gig.
There is plenty of big news expected today on the recruiting front, and if all goes according to plan, Michigan should know within 24 hours if Anderson is on board.
