New Illinois head coach Bret Bielema was reportedly pursuing strength coach Ben Herbert for the same job at Illinois. The two worked together at Wisconsin and Arkansas, and head coach Jim Harbaugh hired Herbert after Bielema and staff were fired at the latter.
Sources have confirmed that Herbert will be back in Ann Arbor next year. That, of course, adds to the strong belief that Harbaugh will be back this year with an extension.
As previously reported, the staff is set to meet in Ann Arbor Tuesday, at which point Harbaugh is expected to start preparing for the 2021 season and either announce staff shake-ups/additions or continue to pursue his new defensive coordinator and others.
