Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh has a list of coaches in which he is interested. Here’s the latest:

As reported yesterday, Arizona State defensive line coach Shaun Nua has become the hot prospect. After his name was brought up on this board, a few with U-M football ties started following him on twitter, and we got a call from an Arizona State source noting he was a “strong possibility” to leave ASU for U-M.

Nua is a BYU graduate who played for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2005-07. He spent 2012-17 coaching defensive line at Navy, where he worked with Director of Player Personnel Sean Magee, now at U-M in the same capacity.

Nua is a native of Pago Pago, American Samoa. He transferred to BYU from Eastern Arizona Junior College, where he earned junior college All-America honors in 2003.

Mississippi State DL coach Brian Baker is still in the running. Syracuse assistant Vinson Reynolds, a Detroit native, is not. And while there was some kicking of the tires with Mike Trgovac, now the D-line coach with the Oakland Raiders, that one isn’t going to happen (for a number of reasons).

Right now we strongly believe it’s Nua’s job to lose, but keep in mind he went to ASU from Navy to be closer to family, so that’s a consideration.

As our MaizeNBlue1817 pointed out yesterday, Duke co-D.C./defensive line coach Ben Albert is also in the mix.

Albert joined the Duke staff in February 2016. Albert was Duke’s Associate Defensive Coordinator for two seasons before being elevated into his current role in February 2018.He worked with Don Brown at Boston College (2013-14-15) coaching the defensive line.
