Michigan assistant Anthony Campanile appears to have chosen to remain at U-M. Head coach Jim Harbaugh has (we've heard) been working hard to keep him since new Rutgers coach Greg Schiano offered Campanile, Michigan's linebackers coach, the D.C. job. He had plenty of money to work with, from reports — perhaps the second largest pool for assistants — and New Jersey is home to Campanile.
Rutgers hired Robb Smith as its D.C. this morning, and sources close to the program indicated that was the result of Campanile saying 'no' to Schiano. We expect he'll coach safeties and probably help on special teams in Chris Patridge's (Ole Miss DC) absence.
We do expect Tenarious "Tank" Wright to get the promotion from assistant strength coach to linebackers coach. The Arkansas grad (2012) came to U-M with Ben Herbert and has been said to be a great asset in recruiting when kids have been on campus.
We'll have more on these developments in the hours to come.
