*** Five-star Michigan cornerback commit Will Johnson is in Los Angeles for a visit with USC. He will be back in Ann Arbor this weekend for an unofficial visit with Michigan. This was the day Will was supposed to visit USC but had pushed it back a week. I'm trying to confirm with Will if he'll be back in Los Angeles next week for another visit or if he just decided to take the one visit next week. Either way, USC remains a threat in this recruitment. However, I obviously think it's a positive that Will is coming straight back to hang out with four-star corner Myles Pollard and is also officially visiting Michigan on the 18th. By the way, Oklahoma has reached back out to Will, but he has no plans to visit there at this time.

*** Obviously, there was a snafu with Rivals250 linebacker Sebastian Cheeks at yesterdays' satellite camp. A big reason why Michigan linebackers coach George Helow and defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald made it out to the Windy City was to spend some personal time with Cheeks. However, Cheeks didn't register online for the camp (he didn't know he had to), and per NCAA rules, coaches can't talk to non-campers. Still, it's a positive that Cheeks drove out to the camp before his flight to Austin for an official visit with Texas. The Longhorns have momentum, but Michigan will likely get the last visit. Michigan is actually talking tot him about coming up for a mid-week individual OV. Cheeks is the top linebacker on the board, and the Wolverines are doing everything they can to impress him.

*** Three-star 2022 San Diego (Calif.) Lincoln cornerback Jahlil Florence Jahlil Florence is a new addition to the Michigan official visitors list. Florence was a strong bond with new Michigan Director of Player Personnel Courtney Morgan, who has basically been running point in this recruitment. Florence isn't a prospect that we've talked a ton about, but he is a guy that could rise up the board after this weekend. He has some Pac-12 offers, but Michigan is definitely a contender. Three-star 2022 Tenaha (Texas) High linebacker Jeremy Patton is excited about his weekend OV to Michigan. I'm told he's risen to the top tier of the linebacker board, and that both Macdonald and Helow are going to pull out all the stops for him this weekend. Patton is a Texas lean but is intrigued by the idea of going further away from home.

*** As Michigan continues to expand its 2022 quarterback board, one name to keep an eye on is Bronx (N.Y.) Cardinal Hayes signal-caller Henry Belin IV. Belin is making an unofficial visit to Michigan on Sunday and will throw in front of quarterbacks coach Mattt Weiss and the rest of the staff. The three-star prospect has offer from Duke, Pitt, Rutgers, Syracuse, Vanderbilt and others. Taking two upside quarterbacks this cycle is becoming more of a possibility.
