*** Michigan offensive line coach Sherrone Moore had yet another Zoom call with 2022 Rivals250 Maplewood (Minn.) Hill Murray offensive tackle Lucas Heyer this weekend. Moore has been making a lot of progress with Heyer, and it wouldn't be surprising if he shut things down in the near future. Heyer really likes the Michigan program, prefers to stay in the Midwest and values the academics. The only thing that appears to be holding Heyer back from pulling the trigger is visiting. With the dead period being extended, Heyer may make a trip on his own this spring.
*** I'm still a little hesitant to put in a FutureCast pick for four-star 2022 Greenwood Village (Colo.) Cherry Creek offensive tackle George Fitzpatrick. However, I do think Michigan has the early advantage here. Remember, Fitzpatrick recently visited Michigan for a self-guided tour and enjoyed his first look at campus. Wisconsin has been labeled as the heavy favorite, while schools like Alabama and Notre Dame have been mentioned as major contenders. However, Moore has Michigan moving up the list. He is recruiting Hinzman extremely hard and had a Zoom with him this weekend. The call centered around strength and conditioning as well as development. Hinzman is set to have another Zoom centered around academics soon. Hinzman will be a tough pull, but Moore is working hard here.
