*** Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh is scheduled to have a call with 2022 Rivals250 St. Louis (Mo.) University safety Isaac Thompson and his family tonight. I exchanged a few messages with Thompson's father, Hickey, and he told me that they fully intend on sticking with their original decision date, which is this Friday (Dec. 4). Harbaugh will personally make his pitch to the Thompson family and answer any questions they have about the stability of the program and what the future holds for the Wolverines.
*** As I mentioned last night, I don't think this one is the slam dunk it was a few weeks ago. Again, there are some stability issues, and Michigan safeties coach Bob Shoop has not been on the field this season — he has still been recruiting. Thompson and his family did enjoy their trip to Ann Arbor for the big visit weekend last month and felt a good bond with other families on campus, including 2022 U-M commit Tyler Martin and his father. Thompson also believes he's a great scheme fit at Michigan. Still, the stability concerns the Thompson family has are warranted.
*** Missouri has made a big push for Thompson since his visit to Michigan. And I think the Tigers have given him and his family a lot to think about. In fact, the Thompson family took a self-guided tour of Missouri over the weekend and enjoyed their time on campus. Mizzou is coming off back-to-back wins and has been selling Thompson on staying home and being a ringleader in his own state. I still feel like Michigan has the slight edge, but Missouri has done a great job of closing the gap, and I wouldn't be surprised if Thompson ultimately sides with them. Arkansas is still involved here, but I feel like the Razorbacks entered the day third on the list.
