*** Five-star Michigan cornerback commit Will Johnson really enjoyed his time at Michigan last night. Johnson had an opportunity to connect with new cornerbacks coach Steve Clinkscale on a personal level and spent some time with head coach Jim Harbaugh. I think Johnson feels more at ease, but he is still set to make his official visit to USC next week. He had an opportunity to workout with both Clinkscale and USC associate head coach at today's Big Rapids satellite camp. Things actually got a little heated between Williams and some Michigan staff members at the end of the camp. Johnson just laughed that off, but this race is getting serious.
*** Elite 2023 quarterback Dante Moore also had a great visit to Michigan yesterday. And yes, he did talk to new quarterbacks coach Matt Weiss. Moore said he was impressed with Weiss' knowledge of the game and is looking forward to getting to him even more moving forward. There were some reports that Moore was supposed to visit Ohio State but cancelled to come to Michigan. That wasn't exactly true. Moore is still slated to visit Ohio State on June 22. He is an Ohio native, and an offer from the Buckeyes would mean a lot. Right now, though, I think U-M leads.
*** It wouldn't be surprising to see Michigan flip four-star safety Jeremiah Caldwell from Kentucky. He did not make it in for Detroit Day yesterday, but he is slated to be on campus for an unofficial visit on Sunday. Caldwell has a great relationship with both Ron Bellamy and Clinkscale, who landed him at Kentucky. The biggest hurdle here may be relationships at Belleville. We won't get into too many details, but there still appears to be some bad blood on the Belleville side. Still, Clinkscale spent a lot of time with Belleville head coach Jermain Crowell today, and Harbaugh tried to extend an olive branch.
*** Four-star mammoth defensive tackle Deone Walker visited Michigan yesterday and had a blast. Walker spent a lot of time with former teammate Raheem Anderson and is quickly building a great relationship with defensive line coach Shaun Nua. Bellamy has been running point here and is in a great spot to win over Walker but will have to fend off some southern schools. Walker will actually be back at Michigan on June 18 for an unofficial visit.
*** Very quickly, elite 2023 wide receiver Carnell Tate has scheduled an unofficial visit with Michigan for June 15. He spent some time with Gattis today and is looking forward to getting on campus. Top 2023 offensive line target Amir Herring was at Michigan last night as he sped back from Ohio State. He loved his time in Ann Arbor and can't wait to return on June 13 for another visit.
