*** Michigan linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary is set to get on the line with three-star 2021 Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St.Thomas Aquinas linebacker Jaydon Hood today. Hood is getting a virtual tour of the campus and facilities. A top overall target, Hood has had weekly calls with Jean-Mary, video chatted with head coach Jim Harbaugh and has had virtual meetings with the academic side of Michigan. Simply put, Hood has seen it all. While he hasn’t visited Michigan, he definitely understands what Michigan has to offer both on and off the field.
*** I have my pick in for Hood and still feel great about where Michigan stands. In fact, after speaking to a source last night, this is probably the best I’ve felt about Hood and the Wolverines. If all goes well on today’s call, I could easily see Michigan truly cementing itself as the team to beat in this recruitment. Hood doesn’t really have a set decision timeline, but I still think him committing before the end of the month is a strong possibility. Schools like Miami and Florida State are still involved, but Michigan has knocked it out of the park with this recruitment.
*** Jean-Mary is also talking to Rivals100 Brentwood (Tenn.) Ravenwood linebacker Junior Colson today. Like Hood, Colson is getting a virtual tour of the campus and facilities. Colson had the opportunity to make it to Michigan twice last year, but he didn’t get to see the dorms, so he’s excited about getting a look at them virtually. Colson exchanges messages with Jean-Mary on a daily basis, and the two have built up a really strong relationship over the last several months.
*** Again, I still feel really good about where Michigan sits with Colson heading into his weekend decision. I know there were some jitters around Ann Arbor, especially after Tennessee seemed to be gaining some traction. However, I get the sense that Colson and his family just feel more comfortable with Michigan and the staff. I’m sticking with my pick for the Wolverines.
