I’m not sure if it’s accurate, but I have a theory that there is a generational divided with Michigan fans.
The older fans (boomers) want to keep Harbaugh and the connection with Bo’s legacy. They don’t want to pay players because of ethics, and don’t really care about competing for championships. They remember the glory years of the 70’s-90’s and are content.
The younger fans (Gen X and younger) want Harbaugh gone. They have lived through 2 decades of utter failure and embarrassment. They’ve witnessed getting lapped by OSU in every way. They don’t understand the logic or ethics of not paying players. In fact, they think it’s immoral not to pay poor kids while everyone else in college football is making millions.
