is the BIG consensus that Rose Bowl is better?

seems like some consternation out there between MSU / Iowa / OSU over who will get the Rose Bowl bid as between OSU and MSU/Iowa loser. i'm a little surprised that the assumption seems to be that that bid is preferred over a Peach or Fiesta game against Notre Dame or Florida State.

am I reading the sentiment correctly that Rose Bowl is preferred (perhaps due to decades of the Rose being the ultimate prize) and if so why?

i'm pulling for ND v. OSU

You've been around Big 10 football long enough to know the answer to your own question. Obviously the Rose Bowl has been THE prize for 70 years or so for every Big 10 team. It would be like me asking whether playing USC each year was preferred over a home and home with Ohio State. No ND fan would say skip USC for a couple years.

Definitely the history, without a doubt.

Unless something major changes, the Rose Bowl will always be the major destination bowl for B1G teams (outside of the playoffs, obviously).

Rose Bowl is the granddaddy of all bowls.

I'm not sure the RB committee is "obligated" to a PAC 10 school if they're not playoff material.

I can't see Stanford with a win over USC getting a playoff berth over OSU if both Bama and Clemson lose. If they do I see NC getting a spot....with OSU ...maybe sneaking in.

Oklahoma and the B1G winner are slotted in there. I'm betting Stanford is in the Rose win or lose and regardless of other team's outcome. USC goes if they win.

Loser of the MSU/Iowa game will play Stanford in the Rose. OSU to Fiesta.....most likely....as I don't see two upsets in SEC and ACC games.

Rose Bowl is better than the others for all the reasons mentioned above. And Ohio State is a lock for that game. Loser of MSU-Iowa gets the Fiesta, which will turn out to be the better match up.

Wouldn't surprise me. I'd rather play Notre Dame (if MSU loses to Iowa) than Stanford anyway.

So you assume that if bama OR clemson lose but not both that a 2 loss stanford gets in over 1 loss osu?
I know theyd be pac12 champs but still...
I think unc with 1 loss SHOULD get in over both of them but wont

UNC has to beat Clemson because of strength of schedule. btw, the Rose Bowl offers a huge parade, a beautiful setting nestled between mountain ranges and a New Year's Day festive that is unmatched in the U.S.
