Earlier today, we had mentioned that Tennessee LB coach Brian Jean-Mary appeared to be the leader in the clubhouse for the linebacker job at Michigan.

Tonight, I feel even stronger that Jean-Mary is not only the top choice, he’s going to be the choice.

We are told that Jean-Mary was one of two candidates (the other we’re told is George Helow) to reach out through back channels to get Sherrone Moore to notice his interest in the position since Moore got the head coach job.

Moore was already well aware of Jean-Mary.

This isn‘t something Moore had to convince Jean-Mary into, interest was already there. Moore had long been an admirer of Jean-Mary so the two connecting made too much sense. Moore and Jean-Mary have a pre-existing relationship beyond the one-year stay in 2020.

As of today, I am told that Moore had offered BJM a very generous offer.

I do know that Tennessee was working to keep him but I am not sure if it’s going to be enough.

Where things stand right now, I would say that U-M is currently the favorite.

I have NOT been told that a deal is done but I would not at all be surprised if we hear some finality within the next 24-48 hours.

Things are looking good for Michigan right now but will continue to keep an ear out.
