As I hinted on Friday, Greg Scruggs’ name had been the only consistent name to be linked with the open DL coach position.
I do think progress has been made from Thursday through this weekend and things continue to trend in Scruggs’ direction.
At this point, the deal would have to fall apart in order for this to not get over the finish line. I’ll obviously keep an ear out and can’t rule anything out with how crazy these past few weeks have been but it’s becoming clear that Scruggs wants the job.
Scruggs is the only name we have been aware of that Moore has reached out to and in-depth discussions have been conducted, including a significant raise for Scruggs, and progress has been made.
For instance, as of Sunday, Terrance Jamison has NOT been contacted by Michigan. He certainly seems next in line and, if that happens, that’ll be my indicator that things have changed.
I don’t have timelines on specifics for when this gets done but I get the sense that all we’re waiting for is signing on the dotted line at this point.
I’ve learned not to speak in certainties but it’s hard to ignore the progress made.
More when I have it.
