you come out flat, they other team is seemingly on fire. Some teams wilt, others claw back and get it done.

In 2002 when OSU won the NC, they needed pure luck to get by Purdue. In 97 UM could/should have lost to Iowa. Alabama almost lost to Miss St last year. The difference is the best teams play poorly and still win in the end. The “could have been” teams lose, ala UM in 2000 (A. Thomas Fumble).

It remains to be seen what this team can do, but it clawed back and won the game when it came out flat and unfocused. That’s a good thing, to be able to rally and come together. It was UGLY, but it may have been a valuable lesson.
