I know the bowl picture is watered-down, but we romped over most of our opposition this year and lost in double OT to a playoff team and their striped players. Damn impressive season overall.

I have to agree....Can't wait for our bowl game....
NOTE:I just saw where Mississippi State (I believe) was 5 and 7 and is playing in a bowl game. Ugh....WAY too many bowl games.

.........John.

You're right, the bowls really are watered down. FSU played 10 bowl teams and UM will be 11.

Unfortunately playing in a bowl just isn't what it used to be. I counted 45 bowl and playoff games for this year. In 1902 Michigan and Stanford played in the first Bowl Game, the first "Rose Bowl". When that first game was 49-0, poor over matched Stanford conceded and the game was halted. In 1937 the number of bowl games grew to 6. After WWII the number of bowl games began to increase. In 1965 the AP began it's final poll and that began to determine the National Champion. And during the 60's the big thing was college football with lesser attention paid to the NFL and AFL. Then in the 1990's the Bowl Championship Series was formed. And now there are so many Bowls it's hard to keep track of them all.

Actually if a group of us all got together I imagine there would be plenty of sponsors clamoring to get on board and we could start our own Bowl. Call it the CFB Fans Bowl or CFBF Bowl for short! Bwahahahahaha!

Anyway, glad we are in a New Year's Day 6 Bowl..........even though there are no Bowl games on New Year's Day this year! What a bummer..........who would have guessed that both Christmas and New Years would fall on a Sunday? Go figure! Oh well, CFB.........still great. Happy New Year!

Speaking of Bowls.........

With BC defeating Maryland 36-30 that makes it ACC 1, BIG 0 thus far.

NW 31, Pitt 24

FSU 33, UM 32
