If you have the temerity to think we will beat MSU and OSU easily, you're delusional.

6-0 is nice, but it's time to face reality: Things are going to get tougher and just be prepared for a loss down the road; it's going to happen.

Quite being delusional.

I wouldn't strike anything up as a definite loss BUT MSU/IOWA and OSU are going to be very difficult no matter what anyone thinks. Our run game right now is a huge concern BUT also knowing that Quinn Nordin is now available should make a Michigan fan smile nice and wide. Michigan should have beaten Wisconsin 23-7 instead of 14-7. I pick the Bucks to win 28-14 or 31-7 Saturday night in Wisconsin.

(chuckling) I didn't think my innocuous post was going to elicit such boorish responses. What's with the contumely? I certainly didn't expect supposed educated people to not know it was a simple typo (quiet). I'm truly aghast and flabbergasted. This is a sports message board not an academic board. Heed these words: Stupidity can stultify the mind. Seriously, who is "Patrick?" I for one have been perplexed by this character. I've told everyone many times I graduated from UM - Ann Arbor (B.S. class of 2007). How about you guys?

Do you honestly think Michigan is going to be undefeated this season? We haven't played any REAL team save Wisconsin, and they're all hype, nothing more nothing less.

Delusion only leads to failure. Deal with it.

That was "quiet" a stupid post, even for a Rutgers fan.

Bam! The reality is no matter HOW GREAT your team is, it's very difficult to go through unscathed. Consider the last 3 National Championships that Alabama & Super Coach Nick Saban have included a regular season loss.

To the point of the thread title, I think there is a difference between being optimistic and delusional

Excellent reminder of Alabama's one loss season championships. It is very very difficult to go undefeated in football and especially with injuries thrown in to the mix. Michigan could possibly go undefeated during the regular season but I seriously doubt it. The lack of a running game and the fact that Speight is non mobile and not very good right now will confirm that in the upcoming games with MSU/Iowa/OSU. I expect BOTH MSU and Iowa to turn it around beginning this week and OSU is quite possibly the best team in the nation right now. The difference with OSU is their QB play. Barrett has weapons around him and he can run making Brown's pressure packages null and void against an athlete like that. I'm sure Harbaugh already knows this and is grooming Brandon Peters (who can run) to take over his offense next year. Michigan is phenomenal on defense but if we ever get behind by 10 or more against a team with a solid defense then we are in trouble and its going to happen at some point. Last year by this time, you could see the offense improving under Ruddock week after week. Maybe its just me but Speight seems to get worse each week. He reminds of me so much of a 1980's drop back huge Michigan quarterback that could never scramble. I was really surprised when he won the job this year, however, that speaks volumes about O'Korn's abilities. I can't wait to see Peters and McCaffery. Let's just hope UM can be just as good on defense down the road as they are this year. I think we will be in a nice bowl game this year (Rose perhaps vs Stanford) or another in Florida vs Ole Miss/Tennessee. We are not as the same level right now as Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State because of the quarterback play of those teams and those Qb's would give our defense a major headache.

Whoa whoa...hope that's a typo regarding Stanford in the Rose. No way those guys are getting a NYD bowl.
I think the fact that so many games have been routs has hindered Speight's progress. Ironically, if you check the stats after 6 games they're almost exact completion % wise & yards wise to Rudock. The big difference is Rudock had more picks than TD's at this point, while Speight's TD/INT ratio is excellent.

Let's see if the D keeps roughing up opposing QB's. If they can keep up their current pace, an intimidation factor may become built in. I know on the surface Barrett shouldn't get rattled, but a few BIG hits from the big uglies on the line & maybe he'll get a bit gun shy about taking off or won't hold the ball quite long enough to burn us over the top.
I would like also to see our squad come in full speed health wise in some of those big games. Seems like we've been nicked up all year. I know it's a lot to ask and MANY schools go through major injuries to key players, but I sure could enjoy a season of destiny here in '16.

MSU is not good on D. The running game has actually been steadily improving on a weekly basis. Iowa really is only a shell of what they were last year. Honestly, both those teams are PERFECT matchups for Michigan. I understand how many here are worried based on the previous several years, but Michigan is well-equipped to handle both of those teams, despite how great they may play against us. OSU is a different beast.

OSU "may" win the game tomorrow against Wisconsin...however , we will see the kinks in their armor clearly. People should STOP giving the buckeyes the trophy before the real games are played . Our competition to date...right now, has been more difficult than theirs (see teams sub .500 records that they have played).
I honest haven't seen so may skeptics. We only lost two games last year and had it not been for a slight ball handling accident, it would have been 1...there is just no denying that we are a vastly better team this year and our coach has PROVEN...his teams get better through the year

I don't care where you went to school. Drew Sharp went to Michigan, too.

Either you're trolling or trying to be a "cool negative guy" - whichever it is, it's lame.

I totally agree, OSU is not unbeatable and we have the elements to win that game. I'm conceding nothing there, time to move past the loser, inferiority complex we've built over a decade against them.

Speight definitely needs to continue to progress. I'm confident under the hands of Harbaugh and Fisch he'll do that, but he has a clear step of maturity to take in bigger games (he was much less effective against out two biggies so far, Colorado and Wisky).

Your comments about Barrett are, I think, accurate. If we pressure the hell out of him, I think he becomes much more one dimensional (a runner largely) and then much more stoppable.

I think THE GAME is setting up to be a titantic, once per decade clash.

I disagree about his ability to move. No, he's not a scrambler, but I've been saying all year, he moves as well in the pocket and passes on the run better than just about any QB I've seen at UM this side of Tom Brady. He keeps his head up, and is still accurate while on the move (see last week's first TD to Chesson). He's young and I think he has a nice, high ceiling if he's making the harder plays (completions on the move) while struggling somewhat in the pocket vs tougher competition.

You delusional people!

As a 45 year HSFB coach we play them one at a time. Let's win this one, easily I hope, and then move on. I see nothing but Orange and blue and have seen them beat us as mentioned in the wolverine and I also remember us beating them at home ( AA ) 24-7 at half time, and lose the game 34-27. Boy that was one ugly game ! GBGB "74
