What is the next logical step? Should there be four 20(lol) school conferences or eight 10 team conferences? I hate the idea of lumping 20 schools into the same conference, but there is not enough marquee schools to have eight leagues. One thing for sure is ND would have to hop into one of them.
8 conferences could mean 8 team playoff without debate.
4 conferences and 4 team playoff would be really bad, but the debate for who makes an 8 team playoff would be really good for ESPN and some fans.
Personally I believe this current set up is really bad. ND is rewarded for not having to conform and one or more Power5 conference will not be represented in every playoff scenario moving forward and that is bad business.
