Committee will be saying the championship game is like the basketball postseason conference tournament..meaningless. Last year it was their main criteria but this year it's not since OSU is a lock. If penn st gets picked at least they can say they beat osu. Wisconsin has no argument..losing to both osu and michigan.

I don't like the inconsistency, but how do you address when a team's schedule allows them to back in? (Remember when Northwestern was doing it?) Besides, rewarding Penn St. will be a PR nightmare for the next decade, so I don't mind seeing them get hosed. :)

Wisconsin best win in conference is what?? Nebraska? Weak division is an embarrassment similar to the weakness of eastern conference in the NBA that LeBron has used to his advantage the past 6-7 years.

Problem with Penn State is their losses....to Pitt and Michigan.

Pitt is #4 in their seven team division.

The loss to Michigan was a BAD LOSS...a 49-10 beat down.

If Penn State beats Wisconsin, I think they go into the playoffs. Personally I think Penn State will lose by 25+ points...they have had a really weak back half of a schedule and that has made them look good. Also, if PSU does make the playoffs as the #4 seed I expect they lose to Bama by 50 points or more.

Honestly, I think the arguement has to be more between Wisconsin and Michigan - Wisconsin has been solid all year and played a tough schedule.

No matter who wins the Conference Championship game, they aren't going to the playoff. From the Big 10 it will be Ohio State. The only other B10 team that has a shot (basically what the committee said last night) is Michigan. The way that I've heard this all season is that they will consider things like a conference championship when the 2 teams being compared are considered comparable. They have pretty much said that Michigan and Penn State and Wisconsin are not comparable. I'm not really interested in Michigan making the playoffs (the 4 spot...yikes), but they are a better option than the 2 championship game participants. If Washington and Clemson win, it's a done deal, only OSU makes it.

Before the B1GCG, Penn State and Ohio State would have just tied for the B1G. Because we now have to choose a team to go to the championship game, suddenly Penn State becomes the division winner, even though they both have only one loss. The truth is, Penn State didn't have a better B1G season than OSU, they just won a tiebreaker. In the vast majority of the history of the conference, it would have been considered a tie. Again, both teams have one loss in the conference!

There is absolutely no guarantee that a conference champion will have had the best year now, so it's no surprise that the CFP committee doesn't consider that the only thing that's important.

The Playoff Committee isn't going to make the Conference Championships meaningless if they don't let PSU in the playoffs. They made the Conference Championships meaningless when they set up a system that didn't require a Conference Championship to be in the playoffs, and didn't make having a P5 Conference Championship an automatic bid into the playoffs,

Penn State is NOT going to beat Wisconsin guys and Michigan will not get in unless Washington loses in the next two hours. Washington has no business though being ranked that high because they have played NO ONE and they got beat by USC who was absolutely obliterated by Bama this year. The Tide would crush the Huskies

Penn State has just as much a chance to win as Wisconsin. Been on a roll. Destroyed Iowa that beat Michigan the next week. Destroyed Michigan State that lost by a two point missed conversion to Ohio State the prior week. In September half of PSU's starting defense was injured. Night and day different team now and on an 8 game winning streak. Ironically, as a Penn State fan, I'd rather go to the Rose Bowl Big 10 Champs with a chance to win bowl game and finish the season on a 10 game win streak than play Bama and get knocked out 1st round.

Yes, transitively, Penn State could beat anybody in the country.

And .... their AD, Alvarez, is on the CFP Selection Committee ... and that could end up biting us on the ass.

Huskies are as lethal as UM and OSU. I had them blowing out Colorado after seeing the Buffs hold a 21-7 lead on us and then get crushed. "74
