Let's face it, O'Korn was terrible today but at least we held onto the ball and got the win. What we have heard repeatedly, and perhaps best exemplified by the miraculous scramble completion O'Korn made to DPJ, is that O'Korn is a good athlete who can do some things with his feet. Obviously, the line has not been great. It would seemingly make 0 sense to have a mobile QB with a mediocre (probably more so poor) OL and not have him run. JO had one carry today. I cannot think of one bootleg or designed rollout. He essentially did not throw a forward pass in the final 30 minutes.
Is this just awful play calling? I don't think so. I think the coaches realize that we HAVE to play O'Korn, and that Brandon Peters would be a disaster of incomprehensible proportions if forced to play. To me, with all the brain power we have on this staff, it would be unconscionable for them to continue to refuse to utilize O'Korn's best attribute as a player, so I have to believe there is a very compelling reason.
For everyone hoping BP plays, consider this: absolutely no one has more riding on the fate of this team than the coaches, especially on the offensive side of the ball who have taken ALOT of heat. You think they would keep the better option on the bench? After 5 turnovers? Unable to complete a pass in the second half against a lower level Big Ten team?
No way. Unless you think these guys are total idiots (I do not), BP is NOT a better option, and I would guess he has been absolutely terrible in practice.
