been following a long time...
Had the Big 2 and little 8 for much of the 70s...lost more out of conference games than won, I don't know the stats but trips outside of the Big 10 typically didn't end well
In the 80s, there were 10 win season successes but also 6-6s, 8-4s, etc. The late 80s were very good
90s...early on, high expectations, 9-3s, 8-4s, and of course 1997-2000 was pretty special.
2000s saw OSU sell out to the dark side and bad hires began (RRod/Hoke) as well as bad management, Sailor Bill and the rest of the crew
With JH 10-3, 10-3, 8-5, 10-3, 9-4 and this season to me amounts to an extended Spring practice. The rest of the Big 10 is so much better than it used to be, tough out of conference opponents, etc.
My point is there seems to be this belief that UM was a perennial Top 5/10 program, just not the case, there were pockets of sustained success but even when Bo was here there were some clunkers. It's a University that values education and integrity above winning. I'll take it every time.
