Getting rid of PSU, NEB, MD, and RUTG and lowering the odds from 14:1 to 10:1 looks a lot better to every B1G program in the current 4-team playoff. Even if this expands to 8 then I still do not see having more top teams to play as an advantage in getting more than 1 B1G team in the playoff.
Bigger is definitely not better. I think it would be much cooler to go back to 7-8 smaller conferences and let intra-conf play determine who gets into an 8-team playoff. Then we get to settle the conference superiority debate on the field instead of in a conference room.
I love the idea of the playoff but the execution of it has been awful. We're still too reliant on polls and opinions.
