I do find it ironic that Harbaugh dropped the 4 star for the 3 star?...

Also...Harbaugh does deserve some ridicule. I would ask some on the board a very simple question.

Would you mock a kid for changing his 'commitment' 3 or 4 times? I would. What is the difference between a coach changing his mind on a kid/s?

Ironic.

If Swenson has a better shot at playing at Northwestern than Michigan then he may ultimately be better off, don't you think?

Would it be better for him to come to UM for two years, not play, and then transfer elsewhere?

Again, nothing is finalized till signing day. That's the whole point of signing day. This is not hard to understand.

I find it moronic that you think you know which player fits Jims team better based off the rankings of a recruiting site .

But not as moronic as you still railing about our coaches ethics based on a half cooked story told by an embarrassed kid.

As is usually the case...you have a major point wrong with your post.

The coach didnt change his mind on the kid. He didnt offer Swenson. Someone else did. I have zero doubt that JH put certain kids on notice at some point, and said I'm the coach now. You need to do/show x,y,z to me because that is what my system/style demand.

This is ludicrous. He never offered Swenson, personally.

Good article but I still stand by my point. A school/coach should not take a 'commitment' when it may not follow through on the commitment. Works for both parties.

I apologize for hurting your feelings on this issue. Don't take commitments until possibly the last 90 days or so?

I do find it ironic that you can write a post but can't read the intent of the original post and to avoid the issue of both kids and coaching changing their minds.

Apparently it is.

When you have rival fans coming here to express their "concerns" over your coach's ethics, you know the program is heading in the right direction.

Kick some ass, Jim.

I agree. A head coach's actions and responsibilities shouldn't be dictated by one single player, but to the entire program. What makes me laugh however is that if this were 3 years ago and Saban or Meyer were doing this, a good many Michigan fans would have been equally up in arms as those from other fanbases who are complaining about Harbaugh now.

Regarding the article:

(1) Fortuitous that a Michigan insider has sources in Downers Grove, Illinois.

(2) What exactly does "MAY not have a committable offer" mean? He other does or he doesn't.

The timing is the only real issue on Swenson, he was told by the coaches that there were clear issues with his performance on the field and that he needed to pick up his game. Analysts have been saying for a couple months he might not likely be in the class. Harbaugh should have cut him loose sooner (he may have done that and it wasn't communicated clearly, I don't know, you don't know because UM cannot talk about it). Stop joining the fools-line on this board (Maelfan, Mr. Spartan, Uncle Jed from OSU, etc.), it's a new culture of football "commitment" which actually means nothing until signing day, UM has lagged behind in sticking with players and wasting scholarships far too often.

Yes. And if I recall, our rivals were too busy laughing to care if we did things "the right way".

I'd much rather hear the screams from their men and the lamentations of their women.
