I can pin point the struggles of UM basketball to 3 guys (I will name names)...

and why JB is going through a rough patch right now.

1. Donnal (4 star). Bust.
2. Irvin (5 star) Basically plays like a 3 star at best most nights.
3. Chatman (4 star). Bust.

Let's just be honest here. Here are three of the biggest recruits of the JB era. LeVert is playing better than expected for his rankings. Robinson and Wagner too. Dawkins is playing better than his rankings...even now. Walton playing as expected. Doyle..probably slightly less than his rank. Wilson...slightly lower than his rank.

2 of the 3 guys playing at their ranking would make this team formidable but they all busted on some level relative to their 'rank'. JB is getting about what was expected if not more from his 'unheralded' recruits but his big recruits (which are limited) is the reason this program is floundering right now.

Just think if Chatman was legit...think that would solve some of the problems? You bet. If Donnal was even a 3 star type of player that would help. Irvin...play like a 4 star and this program is performing better. Maybe JB should turn away all 4 stars or higher.

Agree with most of that but IMO another huge reason we are struggling is because PG might be the most important position of the Beilein and neither Walton or Spike can stay healthy. Walton in particular is a back breaker because IMO he was starting to get it and become an excellent player last year before getting hurt.

Only one name matters....John Beilein. Great guy....way over his head. Get Bennett from Virginia or Mark W from Marquette and we will begin to contend again. Beilein had his best years at UofM....recruits will be running from a program which cannot get to the NCAA's. Stick a fork in this miserable rap of a basketball program. I'm tired of mediocrity. So long UofM basketball...I've been a fan for 40 years biut you finally have lost me. I'm going with winners...instead of wimps.

JB will be here until he retires. He has some very good players coming in going forward. I think you would agree that Teske and Davis are probably better than Doyle and Donnal.

Not to mention Wagner. Maybe JB moves him as someone suggested.

Poole and Simpson and Davis look like some nice guards. So I think JB has upgraded the recruits and with Robinson...it should get better.

I think JB has no really developed Irvin as much as I would like. Dawkins (big disappointment) looks like he wants to play a secondary role and then Doyle/Donnal is basically a low level MAC tandem at best.

There you go. JB lost on some recruits and the ones he got...look way overrated as a bunch.
