But aside from Osu 2017, that was the best called game I’ve seen from JH since 2016, maybe ever. I loved the pre snap motion, finally doing something aside from moving a slot receiver. We were shifting backs, tight ends, basically anybody that could be moved, at some point was. The Gentry screen (which, frankly, he sabotaged fantastically), actually using play action when play action makes sense, running out of the shot gun, utilizing mason as the deep back, the pass to wangler at the goal line was vintage Jim Harbaugh.
We’re starting to see the vision really come together. With proper protection (which, honestly, wow have I been impressed with the OL in pass pro) this offense can stretch the field, our QB is as deadly accurate on the move as any Michigan QB of my lifetime, and we’ve cut down immensely on TFL allowed, sacks, and turnovers. How great was seeing Gentry running the seek route? DPJ and Nico scissors pattern (granted, they bumped into eachother, but I still love the idea of a safety and a corner having to make that split second decision).
It was a hell of a game and a massive improvement.
And for all the hand wringing in the off season, JH made some extraordinary hires. The OL is exponentially better, the WRs are blossoming, and Moore + al Washington are worth their weight in gold on the recruiting trail.
Is Michigan football about to be fun?
