The Mean Streets of the Purple Rose
regarding our lower rated recruits....

In 2011, Thomas Rawls ranked 18th out of 19 players in the class. Frank Clark was around 9th in that class or lower as a TE. They are the only impactful NFL players from that mediocre class.

In 2012, Chesson was 24/25, Clark was 22/25 and Willie Henry was 19/25 in the class. They all play football for a living next year.

In 2013, McCray is 18/27, Khalid Hill is 20/27 and Channing Stribling 21/27. On a side note, players 22-27 all moved on before they were out of eligibility.

The low guys in 2014 have probably overplayed their rankings. The bottom half of the class yielded Winovich, Bunting, Speight, Watson, Bushell-Beatty, Wangler, Furbush, and Ways. The 16/16 guy was Pallante, who was the biggest reach of the Hoke era.

The 2015 class saw Higdon 11/14, Perry 10/14, and Newsome 7/14 play as freshmen. Lowest rated 14/14 was K Andrew David.

In the 2016 class of 28, bottom-halfers included: 18 McDoom, 19 Evans, 20 Hudson, and 25 Metellus, that might all start as sophomores. Several others saw PT.

I suppose that supports the notion, "Trust the coaches". It seems that the hit-rate on the lower rated guys is better than the hit-rate on the higher guys.
