In light of the Amauri Pesek-Hickson offer I have been thinking about a couple of under recruited players here in the Central Valley of California that I have had the opportunity to watch over the last couple of years.

The first one is a 2020 wide receiver that plays at Central High School here in Fresno. Central plays in the CIF Central Section Division I (largest schools). They have one defeat in the last two years and that was to Concord de la Salle and that by about 10 points in a game competitive up to the very end. The kids name is:

Jeremiah Hunter

Rivals Database has almost nothing on him. Here's the Rivals link:

Max Preps has a little more including some highlights:

The kids listed measurables are old. The 6'1" might be correct (though I think he is taller now) but the weight is more like 210 lbs. I got to his game last Friday night really early and was able to watch him warm up. He has huge hands and everything sticks. In his warm ups he stands sideways and catches every pass as/after it passes his body. Try that some time.

In the game that night against a competitive Clovis East team he had seven catches for 166 years and 3 TD's. Which seems to be a pretty usual night for him.

I find myself wondering how many of these kinds of players are there out there that simply haven't caught any of the big names attention? I also find myself wondering if my own evaluation skills are simply off. Tell me what you think. Am I seeing things that are not there?

If you hack around a little on the Max Preps website, you can find plenty of Jeremiah Hunter highlights. When you do, also look at the kid throwing him all those passes. Name is Trent Tompkins and he is a 2019. His three offers are Brown, Nevada, and I think UC Davis. All of this from someone who is breaking/has broken almost every CIF Central Section passing record. His stats last Thursday night were 20-25, 323 yards, 3 TD's, and a 228.1 QB rating. He is not real tall (just under 6') but he has the best escape-ability of any high school quarterback I have seen in years. Smart and a great leader. Throws a good ball with a quick release. Offensive Player of the Year in the Central Section Division I as a sophomore, Player of the Year as a Junior, and likely a repeat as a Senior.

Again, what do you see or not see that I am missing? I watch him and I see a Drew Brees type of player. A little short but with everything else to be a great QB.

We have highly recruited players that come out of this area. This year alone there is Kendall Milton, a 5 Star 2020 running back out of Clovis Buchanan that Michigan has offered and also Jaylen Cropper, a 3 Star 2019 DB/WR (also out of Buchanan) that Nebraska just offered. I can't figure out why these two (Hunter and Tompkins) aren't more highly rated and recruited.
