Yeah, it's a really interesting question about 2011 (in retrospect Miles coming to UM in 2008 is a no-brainer, of course he would have been a better fit than Rich Rod, whom I liked). I tend to think given the recruiting foundation that Hoke generally built and the mediocre, but not disastrous record, that having Hoke as a four year interim to what I'm anticipating as a long-term Harbaugh coaching stint was well worth it. It's the Rich Rod, blow up our defense, recruit totally different players, unsustainability that was much more troubling and hurt UM much more deeply.Yeah...I agree. I would have wish Miles would have taken the job in 2007 or possibly even 2011. Would Harbaugh be here? No but Miles would have built a tough hard nosed competent team. I'd would have preferred 2007 and 2011 is a tougher call.

I don't disagree, we screwed up big time not landing him in 2008, but I'm a "all is well that ends well" guy on this one. If the choice is between Miles coaching here for 15 years, starting in 2011, and Hoke/Harbaugh for those fifteen, I choose the latter every time.Miles would have done great in Ann Arbor. He was at the top of his coaching game in 2008 and was a top notch recruiter. He would have been way in the hell better than Rich Rod or Hoke. He should have taken the job at the time because he became lazy in Baton Rouge over the years but he is still a good coach. His management of his coaches is what got him fired. Cameron is terrible and losing Chavis and then hiring Steele who was canned at Clemson as DC. I could see this coming over the years. It is time for him to retire. He has plenty of money to do so. LSU wants Herman and they will get him after this season.
We never offered him the job. I'm sure his agent told the AD something different to get him a raise.I don't disagree, we screwed up big time not landing him in 2008, but I'm a "all is well that ends well" guy on this one. Agreed, just running with a hypothetical situation. We never offered him the job. I'm sure his agent told the AD something different to get him a raise.
