Looking a year or two down the road, I just watched about 5 minutes of recent highlights Cole Bajema. Now listed at 6'8". His level of competition is low, but he's proved himself over the summer against better comp. His handle is great, but his vision and finding shooters was what really jumped out at me. Could play 1 thru 3. We'll have shooters; it's what we do. A facilitator like Bajema is tailor made for Beilein ball. The kid is skinny, but so was Stauskas in high school. Wilson gives us a versatile 3 alongside Bajema, Castleton a stretch 5, Johns a stretch 4, possibly Livers if he's a 4 year guy. Brooks as a 1 or 2, DD at PG. If we're lucky, we get Iggy one more year. I'm gonna say that Poole is back for one more. Teske and Simpson back, too. We will be very strong next season, top 5 pre-season, and the'19 class will have that year to transition to being key contributors.
After next season, we stand to lose a ton - Teske, Simpson, Iggy, Poole graduating or leaving early. By then, I expect the core group in '20/'21 to be Castleton, DD, Johns, Brooks, Livers, Bajema and Wilson. Faulds is kind of a wild card, and experienced 6'9" player who could shore up the paint. Not ready to count on Nunez yet. Add in Jackson, a wing and a big from the 2020 class. We, IMO, are in position to land top 50 or so kids at both spots. Still a very strong group with 7 or 8 experienced, talented players and youngsters who could get in the rotation, at the least provide depth.
Beilein has a steady flow of talent coming in now with interest from a lot of highly regarded kids. Classes that fill needs. The program has NEVER been in better shape.
