Where I work, we have a lot of Michigan and MSU fans. I'm civil to them. I don't chirp a lot, I don't talk trash, I don't pull pranks. Others do, I don't. Just not what I do.
So when I came into work today and saw "Fire Harbaugh" plastered all over my computer screens, I was a little......irked. Had no idea who or why anyone would do that, but figured it was a Sparty rubbing salt in the wound.
After deducing who the guilty party was, they came forward and admitted their action. His reasoning for it though, was a little different. He said it amuses him how many Michigan fans he's seen since Saturday that are calling for Harbaugh's head. "You just went 10-2 and might get a really good bowl game! That's a damn good season!" he said.
I can't argue that part, he's right. When you look at how bad everything was in 2014 compared to now, it's not even close. Michigan is on the map with a still bright future ahead.
I explained to him though, why so many Michigan fans are upset today. He gets it, but he still thinks calling for Harbaugh's job is ridiculous, hence why he pranked me. FWIW, he didn't think I felt the same way, he's just amused at how irate a lot of our fanbase his.
So we hashed it out. He acknowledged that I'm probably the nicest Wolverine he's ever dealt with and "apologized" for the prank. I told him it was fine and I get his point. Anyone calling for Harbaugh's head is being ridiculous, I've thought that from the beginning. He just needs to make adjustments is all.
After the whole discussion, I actually felt better about the future. My Spartan co-worker thinks that another solid recruiting class or two will help Michigan eventually beat OSU. He seems to also not subscribe to the 3 or 4-year doctrine, which is something I've also been against, but the general destruction of this past Saturday just put me in a really bad place. I'm still not happy and that game was still every bit unacceptable, but I was never calling for anyone's head and I just want adjustments made.
So that's my odd story about how a Sparty prank is actually helping me process the whole situation. The moral of the story is if you ever get to a point where one of your rivals is being a bit more rational about the situation than you are, while still pulling a prank on you, you need to simmer down.
I'm still worried about some things, but I'm starting to get better. Who knew going to work and getting pranked would be therapeutic for this, lol
