OK, the early memes about 1-3-1 and a Princeton offense were BS, but the view that we were three point reliant on offense, a team that would get out-rebounded but make up for it with low turnovers, a team for whom the charging call was a staple of defense, a team of 2, 3 and the occasional 4 star. All of that was true. Over time, recruiting gradually improved to where our average recruit is a 4 star. We now have multiple players who can finish at the hoop. The days of 30 three pointers in a game are probably gone. We now have the size to hold our own on the boards. Charging calls are fewer, but contesting shots, help defense and doing a better job staying in front of opponents have more than made up for it. We have maintained low turnover numbers.
What we are seeing now is Beilein's dream come true. Give him better athletes with skill, more length and strong buy-in; the current team is what you get.
