I have been a UM fan from WA state since 2000, loved UM because of Woodson and the helmets and followed them ever since. Never rooted for UW, WSU, or Oregon.....hate them all. In all those years though, I never really saw UM dominate. Sure, we had the great team in 03 when we beat OSU in the big house. We had a real good team in 2006, but lost to OSU in the end. We had a great team last year, but lost when the games mattered. There were some other good years, but never truly dominated, and that is over a decade of playing football.
In the end, UM never seemed to get over the hump. I for one, am getting really tired of seeing us lose to MSU, OSU and then lose our bowl games. I will NEVER stop being a UM fan, but the broken record is getting hard to stomach. I was super excited when we brought in Harbaugh, especially after the RR and hoke years. I thought we would see the Stanford toughness, smash mouth football and simply beat teams, even in a down year. This has not happened and UM looks no where close to Harbaugh's old Stanford teams!
Honestly though, I am not impressed in year three with JH. When the university pays someone 9 MILLION, let me repeat that......9 MILLION, I would expect more then a performance we saw tonight. Lets not forget, JH is the highest paid coach in the land. I knew we would likely lose this game, but not in this fashion. This game, is a microcosm of UM, over a long span. This is my opinion, and feel free to shred me, but not winning the Big Ten since 2004 is not dominate. It makes me sick, to think MSU with more 2-3 stars then us, can still beat us. Penn State, who lost half their roster just a few years back, smashed us tonight.
I don't give a sh*t what are record is against other teams, I want to beat PSU, OSU, MSU. In the end, I don't care if Indiana has not been us since 1987! Until we start beating rivals, in my opinion, this is not an elite program. We can hype and market all you want, but that is not elite. I guess I am just super dissaponited tonight. I was hoping for a closer game, but this team is much farther off then I thought. We lost a lot of talent, but I did not think we would see such a drop. We get exposed bad tonight!
In the end, some very tough decisions need to be made here! Even Bama, is running elements of the spread now. I don't know what the answer is, and don't claim too. This is not working though, and there needs to be changes made and people who are making 1 Million as assistants need to be held accountable for this level of play.
