From the outside looking in it certainly appears that JH is not the same guy and that our teams since 2016 robbery have lacked some fire and intensity in big games. We have guys leaving/ bailing and coaches too - maybe more than at most places.
But how much of these perceived negatives might go away if we just had more complete rosters? I don’t wanna bore anyone by going back through the rosters since 2016 but rather just look at this year and maybe last. I may be way off but just keep coming back to 2 position groups in particular. QB play is so obvious I’ll just leave that alone. But as far as this season goes - we are staring and 2 big and I just have a hard time understanding why.
• DL - man, we were so good there for so long. Studs at end and dominant DT’s. Last season and this season? I think KP and AH would look better right now though with better DT play since teams can block our inside guys 1 on 1
• we do not have enough quick twitch DB’s. Losing Ambry hurts but how good was he (always seemed like a great kid?) we have really fallen off here. Maybe DGW and Seldon can help soon but we need a ton of them to beat OSU - or hell even Indiana.
It’s hard to coach or scheme around holes like this, especially for a guy like DB.
