Hockey with a huge 5-1 win over the red hot Badgers at Yost. Mich looked like they hadn't played in three weeks in the first period as Wisconsin had a huge shot edge (9-1) out of the gate and scored on a breakaway. But Michigan finished the first period strong and then it was all Wolverines.
Bordeleau stole the puck at the blueline and found Brisson for a tap in, Beniers went end to end to rip one past Beydoun, Ciccolini had a tap in off a Beecher shot that leaked through, and Morgan beat Beydoun from the wing as part of a four goal onslaught in the second period.
Cameron Rowe came in in relief for the third and played well, only giving up one goal on a shot that hit Granowicz in the arm and bounced through. Michigan could have easily had 3-4 more.
Portillo was fabulous in net. His best was a toe save on Stange, I believe, where he used all of his 6'6".
Mel threw York out there every time Caufield was on the ice and York won that battle today. Caufield saw his 12 game point streak (and 8 game goal streak I believe) come to an end, and only had 2 shots. They did a bang up job on Holloway as well.
Another big one tomorrow. Win that one and we can legitimately think about if the Big Ten title is in play...something I thought was long gone after that 2-6 stretch.
It's cool that freshmen get experience. Bordeleau and Brisson were amazing today, Power solid as a rock back there, and that's just the start of that class.
