Five of the 44 players rostered by USA Hockey for the 2021 World Junior Showcase will grace Michigan head hockey coach Mel Pearson’s roster for the 2021-22 season. Full USA roster at the link at the bottom of this post.
The annual summer tournament will be held July 24-31 at USA Arena in Plymouth, Michigan, and will feature a dual split squad from USA Hockey as well as loaded rosters from Sweden and Finland. Covid protocols will prevent inclusion of a team from Canada this year.
Ticket prices are inexpensive, $10 a day, for two games each day after the opening single Finland-Sweden matchup on July 24. The NHL hockey world gathers for seven days at this tournament. General managers, coaches and scouts make up a large number of the attendees in addition to lots of media, especially NHL draft pundits.
Wolverine sophomore forward Thomas Bordeleau and sophomore defenseman Jacob Truscott are among the USA squad invitees, in addition to three incoming freshmen: defenseman Luke Hughes and forwards Dylan Duke and Mackie Samoskevich.

As discussed widely on this board already, this year’s edition of the NHL draft will be dominated in the early rounds by Michigan players, current and future. A separate NHL Draft thread will be opened prior to the July 23-24 Entry Draft selection process.
