I will first let everyone know I am a huge Packer fan (though that fandom pales in my allegiance to my beloved Wolverines) and was distraught when Rodgers went down for possibly the season against the Vikings. That being disclosed, after watching the hit on Rodgers versus the roughing the passer call against Hurst I am now even more confused as to what is a penalty. Barr took a step and a half before hitting Rodgers and following through (no I don't think a penalty was warranted) whereas Hurst took a single step before hitting and planting the IU QB. Historically the college game allows much more leniency in hitting QBs once the ball is delivered. I have watched both hits multiple times and still can't figure out for the life of me how Hurst's hit warranted a flag.
I also do not recall seeing that particular crew that worked Michigan's game do any other UM game I have ever had the pleasure of viewing. Does anyone have any thoughts at all as to the thoughts of the official who threw the flag on Maurice? It was pathetic in my view and one of several odd calls that went against Michigan. Go Blue!
