I wanted to catch up on where we were with the "I know you are, but what am I?" back-and-forth. I still believe if you take the sum total scores of all the games Hoke and RR coached versus PSU, they clearly are ahead of our program, no questions asked. Sparty logic says you slice and dice that nasty stat till it fits, get it? Dantonio is undefeated vs UM in games that really count (not his first year or the five year anniversaries of his first year-minus one the second time).

Football threads are great. Friendly jabs - no problem. Having pride in one's program is as it should be. Name calling and the other gross behavior which goes on on all the message boards is pathetic. The same people all the time.
That said, Detroitjohn have you seen Donovan Johnson from Cass Tech play. If yes I would love to know your thoughts. Thanks.

FWIW ... I saw Cass Tech live (at Wayne State, the Michigan High School kickoff showcase WSU hosts every year) in their opener against Oak Park back in late August.

He's fast. Incredibly fast. Not big though, and Oak Park, who isn't a great Michigan HS team, completed some passes on him. I liked Lavert Hill, the MLK guy who was being recruited by both Penn State and Michigan a year ago (landed at Michigan) a bit better. That said, Johnson has definite talent: his "doppleganger" on PSU right now is Grant Haley.

I honestly haven't seen him play, though Cass Tech has become a serious producer of talent, especially at the skill positions on offense and defense. I'm going to be interested to see if they return to being an essentially UM pipeline or if players broaden out to Ohio State and beyond as they had when UM was down. Donovan Peoples Jones is a really important litmus of that.

Is there noise that PSU is in hot pursuit of him?

Johnson committed to PSU earlier tonight. 3-or-4 star depending on where you looked.

It does strike me as a bit odd for a fairly regarded Cass Tech guy to have no offers from any of U-M/MSU/OSU --- not even MSU --- but that was the case here. Does temper my opinion on him a bit. Wisky, VT, WVU, Nebraska, Oregon and Tennessee were among others that offered.

His name has been mentioned on the PSU board, but I don't think anyone thinks we have a chance at him.

Cass Tech is a school you'd take a flyer on a lesser known player. It's strange that MSU wasn't involved.

No. I think we're done at wr this cycle. From what I heard recently People's is probably going to UM.

The Midwest recruiting guys are very high on Johnson but he may only be 5-9 or 5-10. I think height at cb is a tad overrated. Don't get me wrong it's great to have size but speed, hips, and instincts are more important at that position. I read somewhere that over 60% of NFL dbs are 6 and under.

Especially MSU. Their recruiting is really poor this year and UM has dominated in state. You'd think they'd be all over a top 250 kid that UM isn't recruiting. Same thing with Hamler. Did MSU recruit him?
