lets look at the glass half empty/die hard MSU/OSU fan/pessimistic UM fan.

Oh...this year can't be considered a success. O.k. So basically what some people say is that the 9 wins is irrelevant even compared to a 4 game improvement on the field. O.k. Can't look at the talent on the field (transfer qb/injuries). O.k.

So far so good? Well...how do you respond when the losses were to arguably the former national champion who choked the game the week before. Do you really think they would lose to MSU on a neutral field next week. Maybe but probably not.

How do you respond to losing to a team that is in the BT championship game?

See the point. The losses are to two national playoff championship contenders and the expectation before the season among these SAME fans. This is important. The SAME people who are saying the season can't be considered a success are probably the same people predicting a 6-6 or 7-5 season.

Remember our friend nddecker1? Of course the season is a success relative to the expecations of the season and the talent on the field. When UM gets better talent then there is no question losing to both MSU and OSU will be considered a disappointment and overall a failure. That time may be next year because MSU and OSU won't necessarily be as good and UM may have more talent.

UM won't have more talent than OSU they will be much closer to MSU or perhaps as good at many positions. MSU was a QB ahead of UM this year and had a better OL. I'm glad he's gone and UM has work to do yet on the OL, though help is on the way big time in this recruiting class.
