I was out last night so I recorded the game. Damn game went so long (I always record the next show JIC) that my recording quit right after we scored to go up 8. I had to get highlights from then on...
A couple thoughts after reading the board late last night and this morning (the board sounded like we lost again)...
1. Milton is clearly not the guy, but Cade showed why he set NV passing records - he's just a winner. Feel bad for Joe, but hard to believe Cade wasn't the starter by IU...coaching head-scratcher #1...(maybe JH was trying not to crush the guy - he tends to out-think himself IYAM...)
2. Coaching head-scratcher #2...why is it obvious to everyone but JH that Haskins is our best runner? Finally he seemed to be #1 last night...
3. Coaching head-scratcher #3...at the end of the first half, why did JH allow 4 seconds to run off the clock before he called TO with 28 seconds left? That was the difference between a legit passing play and the short sideline panic play which may have been the reason for the high snap on the FG attempt...nothing new here...
4. Why is everyone still calling for Gattis' head? As soon as we switched QBs, the passing game started working, which opened up the run. The last drive I saw (to go up 8) was masterful in mixing the run and pass, running clock and ending up in the EZ. Would have been the game-sealing drive, but I assume (I never got to see Rutgers' final drive of regulation) the defense lived up to recent billing...
5. Is there a disconnect between Milton and Bell? I don't think Milton even threw in his direction...but Cade found him several times...
6. Speaking of Bell, I love the guy, but on Sanristil's (sp?) TD, he jumped around like he won the lottery. So the pick play worked...probs not a good idea to call attention to it...
7. Speaking of the pick play, is that the first UM pick play IN THE HISTORY OF MICHIGAN FOOTBALL??? So that's what it looks like to use the middle of the field...
8. Gotta feel good for Chris Evans - out of the backfield he was a force catching the ball...and Cade found him...
9. What is wrong with Nordin? I heard he missed a kick in OT as well too...
Finally there seemed to be life on the sideline...let's go Blue! Finish strong and maybe make a bowl game (I can't remember...are there bowls this year?)
