No conspiracy theories really, but have they ever had a better set of 8 teams from a popularity/predictability standpoint?
They had Kentucky vs either Kansas/ND, Wisky and the team that most would have put in their own eye test rankings over Nova as the #1 seed.
They slotted easily the weakest #1 seed in the region with two of the most successful tourney coaches possible, and they both are in the Elite 8, and they also got Duke vs Gonzaga (also looked at as better than Nova I would think).
Anyways, I would think they couldn't be happier on how this ended up from a business/ratings perspective.
Maybe the most "local" Final Four ever. With UK, Wisky, Louisville/Sparty all in there.
I am guessing they are getting a nice par on the backside.
