I had one when I was 6 years old. I landed on my head off a bicycle. I had amnesia until 2 days later in the hospital. I mention this because I have thought about my accident on countless thousands of occasions throughout the rest of my life, wondering whether this event impacted my intelligence and abilities.

These atheletes get a concussion, and then they have a prolonged recovery with headaches and difficulty with basic activities of daily living. Then, they have to strap on a helmet again and subject themselves to brutal high speed collisions. Added to this, negative publicity is everywhere in the media, with known devastating consequences down the road. It is amazing to me that more atheletes don't retire at the top of their prime after experiencing a concussion.
