Has a team ever refused to take the field in protest?

I find it interesting that some players walked out of the Durkin meeting as he announced his return. This situation in Maryland is headed for a disaster in my opinion. I couldn't find any examples of an entire team refusing to take the field in protest, forcing a coach to quit or team executives to make an immediate decision.

Other than the movie Friday Night Lights of course.

Would anybody blame these kids in this situation if they made the boldest of statements?
