I think it's pretty clear that Coach wants to build a specific kind of offense: A physically dominant run game coupled to a complex, pro passing scheme (think Stanford +). If, in any given year, his roster is less talented, less physically mature, or simply less experienced (or any combination thereof), it will stumble and burp a bit. When the right pieces are in place, however, his system will match-up with anyone.
This year's roster isn't going to execute this offense smoothly. The offensive (no pun) players are young, inexperienced, and lack strength across the board. The QBs that are mentally capable are limited physically and those that are physically capable (evidently) aren't there yet, mentally.
As many have noted, we might be able to do more with the current bunch, were Harbaugh willing to modify his system. Yet, he remains unwilling to change much. So, the question:
Is he stubborn, or simply refusing to be "penny wise and pound foolish"?
