you wonder what kind of a coach we have. Two weeks into his first season at Stanford he posts in his own handwriting four lists in the locker room with every roster player named. The top list he calls "Champions" and includes the guys working their butts off regardless of skill level. The second group he calls "Up and Comers" which includes guys not far off of the first category, but still a way to go. The third group he names the "Steak Eaters" for obvious reasons. And the last group, all of whom did not survive, he dubbed the "Bus Riders." Point being he will let you know where you stand and it doesn't come as a shock to anyone. They know it already.
The good news for us, no such lists are necessary. Everyone working extremely hard. They get it. Sure, there are some distinctions, there always is. But the gradation on championship teams is never too wide. It's just that some are more talented than others and/or get it mentally better than others. But the effort is there, consistently. We are in good hands.
