I just watched a Detroit 7 interview with him and he:

- used a Lion King reference.
- was nothing BUT complimentary to MSU
- concentrating on nullifying State's passing attack.
- wouldn't bite on multiple attempts to give them a dig.

But watching him a lot of his answers felt vague and he was staring into the distance much of the time. I don't think he ever shuts off coaching.

He's designing plays in his head while contemplating his next, vague response, great multi-tasker we've got!

Not too much into rivalry games? You're kidding, right? Think 41-point dog Stanford to USC his first year. Think of the great exchanges with he and Pete "what's your deal man?"

On the outside he may be calm but I can assure you internally his boiler is going on overtime.

Is Stanford/USC every a rivalry game? They are in the same conference, but outside of that, I've never heard it called a rivalry game.

guess you don't live in the W. Coast. Stanford always plays USC tough even in the Elway days. USC has ND, UCLA and Stanford as its biggest games every year.

I live in Houston. Grew up in Detroit and went to MSU. No, I've never heard that Stanford and USC were rivals. USC and ND? Yeah. USC and UCLA? Yeah. I'll have to keep a closer eye on those games.

No, I really think he downplays them because in his mind no opponent deserves his team's best over another.

But, (back to the Lion King reference) he did say about the past - you either get hurt by it or learn from it.

Read between the lines. He is the most tactful college coach I c email seen this side of Mike krzsyewski. No idea how to spell his name. You have no idea how lucky you are to have a coach that can walk into a Monday presser and say some stuff that makes their opponents poop their pants. Even if it's benign words. The delivery alone is priceless.

I'm not going to lie - that man is worth every penny the school pays. He is always "on".

Also, congrats to the Horns on their win. Hook em!

He cares a ton, and he wants to absolutely demoralize MSU, he just won't say it publicly. He's a big believer in actually showing what he can do, instead of talking about it.

Really? In that case....
